About Our Owner
Starting in 1970, Steve Blackwell built the power plants for drivers such as David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Bobby Isaac, Darrell Waltrip, Buddy Baker, Neil Bonnett, Cale Yarborough, Dale Jarrett, and Dale Earnhardt. Along the way, his custom engines helped these drivers win 78 Winston Cup races, a Winston Cup Rookie of the Year title, and 2 Winston Cup championships.
In July 1983, after 13 years in Winston Cup racing, he founded Steve's Head Shed to provide the very best in cylinder heads, intake manifolds, and complete engines to racers. Steve continued to work for a Winston Cup team until 1991, when he made the decision to devote all of his time and energy to his ever-growing business.
Since 1983, Steve's knowledge, skill, and attention to detail has resulted in over 1,100 feature wins and over 60 track championships on the short tracks of the Southeast. He is committed to giving racers the finest equipment money can buy and the kind of commitment, experience, and knowledge that money can't buy. Put his extensive expertise to work for you.
